Our School

Ss Peter & Paul's Catholic Primary School  Doncaster East

Ss Peter & Paul’s Parish Primary School is nestled in quiet streets off the Eastern freeway, near Doncaster and Wetherby Roads. We are approximately 20 km east of the City of Melbourne. The school shares the site with Ss Peter & Paul’s Parish Church and Community Centre.

As a small school, we pride ourselves on knowing each and everyone of our students and their families. Our small class sizes enable your child to develop strong relationships with their peers and their teachers. Teachers are able to personalise teaching and tailor the learning for your child; targeting your child’s strengths, passions and interests. We make your child feel safe, acknowledged and valued.

In 2022 the school has a class structure of:

One class of Prep

One class of Year 1/2

One class of Year 3/4 and

One class of Year 5/6.

We have a firm focus on student well-being. We model and promote a strong culture of acceptance, care and inclusion.

Ss Peter & Paul’s has an active parent community who make a wonderful contribution to the learning of all students.

Our Prayer

God, Our Father,

You know and love each person in our school community.

Help us to love one another as Jesus taught us.

We ask the Holy Spirit to guide us in love and peace

as we care for ourselves, others and the world.

May we be as faithful as St Peter and St Paul

in spreading the Good News.

Amen

Our History

Ss Peter and Paul's School, Doncaster East, commenced in 1959 and in the following 20 years grew to an enrolment of over 1000 students. It was the second largest Catholic school in Victoria at the time. Fr Spillane was the first parish priest and Sr Mary Healy, the first principal.

The current junior school building was initially used as the church until the new church was built in 1970. The latest library facility was established in 1988, new 'state of the art' classrooms were added to the main building in 1991 and new toilet/walkway facilities completed in 1996. In 2003, four of the original Junior School classrooms were completely refurbished. The remainder of the upgrade, including a new administration area, was completed in 2007–08. In 2012, through the Building the Educational Revolution (BER) funding, the school s library was refurbished with a state of the art digital technologies centre and an elaborate visual art room.

A new Adventure Playground was installed in 2018 giving students greater enjoyment at playtimes.
